Press release September 23, 2009

Send postal ballot letter now!

WIESBADEN – The Federal Returning Officer advises all postal voters that postal ballot letters containing the completed ballot papers for the Bundestag election must have arrived at the competent authority on election day (next Sunday, 27 September 2009) by 6 p.m. at the latest. Only then can the vote be counted in the Bundestag election.

The Federal Returning Officer recommends that all postal voters who have not yet completed and sent their postal ballot documents should post their ballot letters soon, either today or tomorrow. It is also possible to deliver the postal ballot letter – or have it delivered – in time at the address indicated on the ballot letter envelope.

Every postal voter has to make sure that the postal ballot letter arrives in time at the electoral office. If a ballot letter is received too late, the vote will not be counted in the Bundestag election.
