From 10 to 13 June 2004, the citizens of the European Union elected the European Parliament for the sixth time. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the election was held on Sunday, 13 June 2004. The polling stations were open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This sixth direct election was again not based on uniform European election legislation but on national electoral acts. The European Elections Act and the European Electoral Regulations govern the election procedure in the Federal Republic of Germany.
