38 parties and other political associations have submitted nominations for the European election
WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Returning Officer, the following parties and other political associations submitted their nominations in the form of joint lists for all Länder for participation in the 2009 European Election to the Federal Returning Officer by the deadline for submissions, that is Tuesday, 31 March 2009, 6 p.m. (order by date of reception):

The admission of joint lists for all Länder of those parties and political associations will be decided upon by the Federal Electoral Committee on the 58th day before the European Election (Section 14 (1) of the European Elections Act). Therefore the public meeting of the Federal Electoral Committee will be held in Berlin at Deutscher Bundestag, Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus (entrance Adele-Schreiber-Krieger-Str. 1), room 3.101 (hearing room) on Good Friday, 10 April 2009, at 11 a.m.
Lists for any Land have to be submitted to the competent Land Returning Officer by 2 April 2009, 6 p.m. Traditionally, this applies to the Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands (CDU) and the Christlich-Soziale Union in Bayern (CSU). The Land Electoral Committees will decide about their admission also on 10 April 2009.
