New Elections Atlas of the 2009 European Election online now

WIESBADEN – On the occasion of the European election to be held on 7 June 2009, the Federal Returning Officer offers a new Elections Atlas on his website which contains the results of the latest European election of 2004 and selected structural data for all Länder, rural districts and towns not attached to an administrative district. Already in election night, the results for Germany of the 2009 European Election will be included in the Elections Atlas, too, once the preliminary election result has been established.

At present, voter turnout and the results achieved by the individual parties at the 2004 European Election can be called up in the Elections Atlas for each Land, for all rural districts and towns not attached to an administrative district. The shares of the votes obtained by the parties and the voter turnout in the individual areas are presented in different colour shades.

Comprehensive structural data are contained in the Elections Atlas for each rural district and each town not attached to an administrative district for the following subject areas: population, educational level, stock of motor vehicles, construction activity and housing, mining and manufacturing, enterprises and local units (including insolvency proceedings), public finance, employment and social benefits. The structural data are shown in different colour shades, too.

The Elections Atlas is available free of charge as a flash version on the website of the Federal Returning Officer.

The structural data are may also be downloaded for free as a pdf file or in the csv format.

Additionally, number 1 of the publications issued by the Federal Returning Officer on the 2009 European Election is going to be published these days. It is entitled “Ergebnisse und Vergleichszahlen früherer Europa-, Bundestags- und Landtagswahlen sowie Strukturdaten für die kreisfreien Städte und Landkreise“ (Results and comparative figures of earlier elections to the German Bundestag, the European Parliament and the Länder parliaments, and structural data for towns not attached to an administrative district and for rural districts). The results of the latest elections, respectively, which are contained in that German-language publication, have been converted to the territory as of the 2009 European Election.

The issue is provided for free download as a pdf file.
