Parliamentary groups

Parliamentary groups shall be associations of not less than 5 % of the Members of the German Bundestag,and their members shall belong to the same party or to parties which, on account of similar political aims, do not compete with each other in any Land.

Where Members of the Bundestag form such an association on other grounds, its recognition as a parliamentary group shall require the consent of the Bundestag.

A minimum of 20 Members from at least five EU member states shall be needed to form a parliamentary group in the European Parliament. Each parliamentary group shall be multinational and involve several countries.
