Prison inmates

Prison inmates shall be entitled to vote in Bundestag elections provided that the conditions of Section 12 of the Federal Elections Act are met and they are not disqualified from voting under Section 13 of that Act. They shall be entitled to vote in European elections provided that the conditions of Section 6 of the European Elections Act are met and they are not disqualified from voting under Section 6a of that Act.

If no special polling district is established in the prison, they may vote by postal ballot.
