Indemnity

A deputy may not be called to account for a vote cast or a statement made by him in the German Bundestag or a committee or parliamentary group meeting, also after he or she has ceased to exercise his office. Indemnity serves the purpose of facilitating unimpeded parliamentary work and the free expression of opinions. It applies especially to all legal proceedings, including civil cases. Indemnity does not apply to votes cast or statements made at party or election rallies.
