Reimbursement of election costs

The Federal Government shall reimburse the Länder for their necessary expenditure and that of their municipalities arising from Bundestag and European elections. The costs for posting the voter’s notifications and postal ballot documents as well as the refreshment allowances for the members of the electoral board shall be reimbursed to the Länder by way of individual bills. The other costs shall be reimbursed by paying a fixed amount for each person eligible to vote. This fixed amount shall be 0.48 Euro per person for municipalities with an electorate of up to 100,000 persons and 0.74 Euro for municipalities with more than 100,000 persons entitled to vote.
