of the German Bundestag
In accordance with Article 39 (2) of the Basic Constitutional Law, the newly elected German Bundestag shall assemble on the 30th day after the election at the latest. That session shall also be the constituent meeting of the German Bundestag.
The constituent meeting of the 17th German Bundestag took place on 27 October 2009. 
 

of the European Parliament 
In accordance with Article 11 (3) of the Direct Elections Act, the first assembly of the European Parliament shall be its constituent meeting, too, and be held on the first Tuesday after the end of the month starting at the end of the period of time in which the elections took place. 
The constituent meeting of the European Parliament took place on 14 July 2009.
