The Federal Returning Officer will again offer a comprehensive press service for the media on 27 September 2009, the day of the Bundestag election:
All press releases will be disseminated as usual via fax, internet, e-mail and ots service.
On election day, the Federal Returning Officer and his staff will stay in the German Bundestag in Berlin until the official provisional result has been announced. A presentation area will be set up in the West Lobby on the Plenary Chamber floor, where the Federal Returning Officer will make his official announcements (intermediate result for voter turnout and the official provisional result). The layout of the presentation area will mainly be geared to meet the lighting requirements for television broadcasting. Apart from that, staff of the Federal Returning Officer will be available there to answer questions until the official provisional result has been announced.
Please note: Media representatives who hold neither a permanent accreditation to the German Bundestag nor a legislative period ID of the German Government Press and Information Office will require accreditation for reporting on the election on 27 September 2009. As with previous Bundestag and European elections, the Federal Returning Officer is going to give representatives of the media the opportunity to obtain the incoming results of the Bundestag election on 27 September 2009 for further processing by free file download (xml and csv formats), a service which is offered in addition to the regular dissemination of results on the Internet. The files can be downloaded from a website. The URL and the required user ID may be requested by e-mail to presse@destatis.de.
Interviews can be arranged at the presentation area in the West Lobby in front of the Plenary Chamber of the German Bundestag, provided that the Federal Returning Officer and his deputy are available and after checking with the press officer on site. It is necessary to make an appointment for this in time by calling one of the above telephone numbers.
