Schedule of the Federal Returning Officer on the day of the Bundestag election at the German Bundestag in Berlin

WIESBADEN – On election day (22 September), the Federal Returning Officer and his staff will stay at the German Bundestag in Berlin (Reichstag building) until the official provisional result has been announced. A presentation area has been set up in the Members’ Lobby on the Plenary Chamber floor where the Federal Returning Officer will make his official announcements. The layout of the presentation area is mainly geared to the lighting requirements of television broadcasting. If required, staff of the Federal Returning Officer will be available there to answer questions.

Schedule of the announcements (set so far) of the Federal Returning Officer on the day of the Bundestag election at the German Bundestag in Berlin (Reichstag building, Plenary Chamber floor):

  • Around 3:30 p.m. the Federal Returning Officer Roderich Egeler will announce the “intermediate result for the voter turnout by 2 p.m. on election day”. That figure will be determined on the basis of voter turnout in selected polling stations.
  • Federal Returning Officer Roderich Egeler will presumably announce the official provisional result early in the morning of 23 September. As soon as the approximate time of the announcement is known, the media will be informed in advance by press release. After the official provisional result has been released, detailed results will be available in pdf format on the web site of the Federal Returning Officer. Additionally, a detailed file (csv format) containing results for all constituencies will be offered for download.

The first official results from the 299 constituencies are expected from 8 p.m. Results will be visualised as they come in both at the presentation area of the Federal Returning Officer in the Reichstag building and on the web site of the Federal Returning Officer at www.bundeswahlleiter.de. At this election there will for the first time be a specific compact presentation of results for mobile devices.

All press releases will be disseminated as usual via the internet, e-mail and ots service.

Please note: Media representatives who hold neither a permanent accreditation to the German Bundestag nor a legislative period ID of the German Government Press and Information Office will require general accreditation to the German Bundestag to report on the election on 22 September 2013.
