Federal Electoral Committee to decide on complaints on 3 August 2017

WIESBADEN – At its second meeting in preparation of the Bundestag election, the Federal Electoral Committee will decide on complaints filed against the Land electoral committees’ decisions. The Land electoral committees approved or rejected Land lists at their meetings of 28 July 2017. The Federal Returning Officer also reports that the meeting will be held in public in the German Bundestag building in Berlin, Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus (entrance Adele-Schreiber-Krieger-Straße 1), room 3.101 (Anhörungssaal), on Thursday, 3 August 2017, at 11 a.m.

Until midnight today (31 July 2017), parties may lodge a complaint against a Land electoral committee’s decision to reject their Land list. Land returning officers may file a complaint against a decision by which a Land list was approved in their Land. The agents of the Land lists concerned and the Land returning officers in charge are invited by the Federal Returning Officer to attend the meeting. All those concerned who attend the meeting will be heard. Following the meeting, the Federal Returning Officer will announce the decision of the Federal Electoral Committee.

Information about the individual complaints on which the Federal Electoral Committee is to decide will be published by the Federal Returning Officer in another press release on Tuesday, 1 August 2017.
