Federal Electoral Committee decides on complaints

WIESBADEN – In a session open to the public, the Federal Electoral Committee has today dealt with complaints filed against the rejection of four Land lists. The complaints lodged referred to the non-admission of Land lists of the following parties:

  • Nationaldemokratische Partei Deutschlands (NPD) in Berlin,
  • Demokratie in Bewegung (DiB) in Rheinland-Pfalz,
  • Deutsche Mitte (DM) in Sachsen, and
  • MENSCH UMWELT TIERSCHUTZ (Tierschutzpartei) in Rheinland-Pfalz.

The Federal Returning Officer also reports that all complaints were rejected so that the respective decisions taken by the Land electoral committees on 28 July 2017 were confirmed.

The complaint against the deletion of a candidate from the Land list of the Marxistisch-Leninistische Partei Deutschlands (MLPD) in Nordrhein-Westfalen was regarded as justified. In contrast, the complaint lodged by the Freie Demokratische Partei (FDP) against the deletion of a candidate from its Land list in Nordrhein-Westfalen was not successful.

Another three complaints were rejected as not being justified.
