2017 Bundestag Election: provisional result
WIESBADEN/BERLIN – On 25 September 2017 at 5.25 a.m., the Federal Returning Officer released the provisional result of the election to the 19th German Bundestag, which was held on 24 September 2017.
With a voter turnout of 76.2 percent (2013: 71.5 percent), the parties obtained the following shares of the total number of valid second votes:

The share of invalid second votes in the 2017 Bundestag Election was 1.0 percent (2013: 1.3 percent).
The share of invalid first votes in the 2017 Bundestag Election was 1.3 percent (2013: 1.5 percent).
Pursuant to Section 1 (1) of the Federal Elections Act and subject to deviations resulting from the calculation method laid down in Section 6 of the Federal Elections Act, the Bundestag consists of 598 members. The newly elected Bundestag will comprise 709 members (2013: 631 members), including 111 additional seats.
According to the official provisional election result, the parties listed below have received the following numbers of seats (including additional seats) in the 19th German Bundestag:

According to the official provisional election result, the additional seats resulting from the provisions in Section 6 of the Federal Elections Act are distributed among the parties as follows:

The Federal Returning Officer expresses his warmest thanks to the more than 650,000 voluntary workers on the electoral boards. “Your work has been a significant contribution to the successful conduct of the 2017 Bundestag Election and you have done a good service to democracy.” Special thanks also go to the many thousand people in the electoral offices, administrative agencies and in the Deutsche Post AG postal services who kept the election process running smoothly.
The Federal Electoral Committee will presumably determine and announce the official final result of the 2017 Bundestag Election on Thursday, 12 October 2017, at a public meeting in the German Bundestag in Berlin.
