Background information on the 2021 Bundestag Election: training offered by Federal Office for Information Security to secure the electoral process

WIESBADEN – In the last few days, over 700 representatives from the municipalities have participated in the first webinar of the Federal Returning Officer and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on securing the electoral process. The webinar series is intended to support municipalities in securing their IT infrastructure for the organisation of the Bundestag election to meet state-of-the-art standards.

“Protecting the IT against cyber attacks has top priority in this year’s Bundestag election”, said Federal Returning Officer Dr. Georg Thiel. “The BSI and the Federal Returning Officer therefore support all electoral bodies and offices involved in determining the election result of the 2021 Bundestag Election in securing their IT systems.”
