First meeting of the Federal Electoral Committee on 14 March 2014

WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Returning Officer, the first meeting of the Federal Electoral Committee on the 2014 European Election will be held in Berlin at the German Bundestag, Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus (entrance Adele-Schreiber-Krieger-Str. 1), room 3.101 (Anhörungssaal) on Friday, 14 March 2014, at 11 a.m. At that meeting, the Federal Electoral Committee will decide about the admission of parties’ and other political organisations’ lists for individual Länder and joint lists for all Länder.

The Federal Electoral Committee consists of the Federal Returning Officer as chairman, eight persons entitled to vote who have been appointed by him as assessors, and two judges of the Federal Administrative Court (Section 4 of the European Elections Act in conjunction with Section 9 subsection (2) of the Federal Elections Act), for every one of whom a deputy is designated. The Federal Electoral Committee for the 2014 Election to the European Parliament has the following members:

Important notes:

The meeting of the Federal Electoral Committee will be held in public. Visitors will have to pass security checks before entering the Bundestag buildings and have to show their identity cards.

Unless they are permanently accredited with the German Bundestag, media representatives will have to seek prior accreditation with the Press Division of the Bundestag: http://www.bundestag.de/presse/akkreditierung/index.html. There, the relevant application form can be downloaded.
