Figures, facts and information: new website of the Federal Returning Officer is live

The website of the Federal Returning Officer has been comprehensively revised and updated. It has been launched today.

When the site was redesigned, particular importance was attached to creating a simpler and intuitive structure. The “main menu” has been reduced from twelve main subjects to the five most important ones. They are displayed on every webpage for direct access to a subject.

We have supplemented the information offered by further topics related to elections. Where possible, we have rephrased the formal legal language of acts and regulations. This was done for the benefit of voters, candidates and last not least the numerous Germans living abroad who wish to participate in elections in Germany.

A detailed Election Glossary explaining technical terms of electoral legislation supplements the information offered.

Almost all pages are in both German and English. All information will be displayed in a space-saving mode on mobile devices. For the first time, some of the information is provided in an easy read version. A sign language video will soon complete our offer.

With this we would like to respond to the different needs of a large number of people.
